Well, in Texas, people would be getting their Spring plans out, making lists of items to put in their garden come March. Well, here...we can plant things in pots!!!! I was in the waiting room at the doctors office the other day waiting for Caleb's appointment to finish up, so I read the Better Homes and Garden January issue, the Martha Stewart Winter issue and some other "home" magazine, and they were all talking about starting your seeds...so now I'm in this Spring kind of mood, pulling out the herb books, garden plans and such and...

...this is what our yard looks like...

A few months ago, this is what it looked like. Isn't that just beautiful?

Yeah, I think I'm ready to do this again...

...you know, I think Jessica is ready too! ;-)

Yup...even if it means getting odd sunburns again because the weather is so nice, we don't realize the sun is shining on us...;-)

  1. Spring..... What's that ?!? It's so cold here right now (well mid-high 30s, cold for WA !) that I can't even *think* about a sunburn or picking greenbeans (our main crop) ! :D

Hi, That picture of your yard in the fall is pretty. Tell Jessica that we all can't wait for her to come back. Talk to you soon.

    Nathan,

Isn't it lovely? I thought I had a photo just like that taken in the spring, but I couldn't find it...I'll have to do that this spring...when it decides to show up! lol :)

    Hannah,

Yeah, you used to live in MI so I'm sure you can feel my pain. :) I saw your comment about the Brain Type Test...that's so funny that we have the same brain type!

  7. Jacqueline,

Thanks! I don't think it'll look like that when y'all pass through, but hopefully it will look better than it does now. :) Can't wait to see y'all!!!

    Anonymous,

Great as in funny...or it's a nice picture? ;-) And, if you don't mind my asking, who are you?

Wow, Tiffany! I didn't think it was possible for you to get tired of snow! Hannah told me that last week was the week of the year the most people are depressed. So much snow and such a lack of sun are the reasons, I guess. But, I'm in Texas right now, and I'm loving the weather! ;-)

  9. Hey Alice,

lol...I believe it! This has got to be such a drab time of the year...I guess that's why they moved the New Year date from the Spring to January...trying to keep people perky...Ahhh...Texas sun...sounds lovely...send some up here? ;-)

  10. That fall photo is really beautiful! Unfortunately we don't have any of those oak trees here; just ugly pine trees and a few cotton woods. Although I'd take our hills and mountains over your flat lands any day.

  11. Flat lands!?!?!? What are you talking about?!?!?! We have lovely rolling hills (more commonly referred to as river bluffs...;-) and the Illinois river, and well, yeah, so some farm lands...but I mean, there's not much that compares to fresh Illinois sweet corn! :)

But, I have to admit, y'all do have some gorgeous views and awe-inspiring mountains...but you're winters are too cold. :)

  13. Hmm... Anything more flatter then Illinois would be Saskatchewan where my dad's been hauling propane too.

Now your "rolling hills" would be bumps for us. Now the Smoky "Mountains" in Tennessee are hills.

Now I have to agree, the winters are quite cold. It was 0 degrees the other day and we all went out in our tee shirts because it was warm!

Also the summers get really hot. We go extreme to each measure. It gets to about 110*F in the summer and -30*F in the winter.

Anyway, none the less, you guys have the better trees.
