I think we lit every candle in the living room on Christmas Eve.

Our Advent candle holder from last year. This year we used a pewter wreath.

Flickers of flame reflecting in Daniels eyes...pretty cool, eh?

Jessica thought so...

Christmas Eve found us playing "Cranium." Over all, it was a pretty fun game.

Daniel reading the instructions...

Don't we look so competitive...

Your time has run out...

Dad visits his "Thinking Spot."

Lost for words? ;-)

As Peter S. so profoundly stated in his hit film debut..."I have no idea!"

Guesses were thrown left and right as mom quickly sketched, trying to beat the timer...

Mom was the artist on team one...somehow, they never had to be blindfolded...our team always did!

The Christmas morning breakfast table...before the food was set out, of course...;-)

Advent candles make a beautiful centerpiece.

A small nativity scene...

...and ornaments from the tree complete the table decor.

After breakfast, we did our last lesson in Advent this year.

And sang William's favorite Christmas song, "O Come, All Ye Faithful."

"Who was talking about gun control???? Was there gun control in the Hundred Acre woods...oh, and I don't recall Pooh having a license....Did you read the black tag on my reads 'Texas'...remember, 'Don't mess with Texas!'"

"How does this thing open????"

Melissa watches with anticipation as Caleb opens a gift from her.

"Christopher Columbus!!!! A Military Surplus beret and personalized dog tags!!!!"

"Thanks, Melissa! Now I can play paint ball in style!" ;-)

"Ohhhhhhh!!!!!! He's going to look soooo cute!!!!"

William opens The Big Book of Tractors, a gift from Christa and Daniel...I wonder if William's dreams are green and yellow?

"Oh the posh, posh traveling life, the traveling life for me!"

After wandering through two malls with no success, we decided to order the special edition of Master and Commander for Dad. I'm not sure who was more excited...him...or us! ;-)

"Hey, Wee-yum(translation:William), now you can wear your own cowboy boots!!!!"

"...but Daddy, the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!" "Yes, Emma, but we live in Illinois..."

Me and my "doll." I'm glad my parents decided to get this one instead of an American Girl doll.

Jessica thinks she's all ready to go see The Marriage of Figaro with those new old opera glasses.

William (a.k.a. "Bow-Hood/Robin Hood) insisted that Jessica (a.k.a. Maid Marion) ride behind him. :)

William gives "Black Booty" a hug. When he begins to star in those cowboy shows, he'll have to resort to hugging his horse, just like Roy Rogers.:)

Caleb looks smashing in his Special Forces beret from Vision Forum.

Christmas dinner

  1. Oh that last photo was the best! I can almost taste it!

  2. lol...that was actually the first time I've ever had beef tenderloin...we called my Great-Grandmother for her recipe...;-)

  3. But you didn't mention WHO actually prepared it and if you liked it or not! ;-)

  5. Ahhh! Let me guess... your Mother prepared it?

We have deer tenderloin once a year; when we go hunting. As for beef, I think I've only had it once or twice.

The only thing on that is missing on that plate is home made squash rolls -- the ultimate in rolls.

  6. You got a doll too ?!?! So did I ! (in fact I think is it the same one)I named her Amelia in the medical world when a baby is born with out limbs she is called an Amelia, from the Greek prefix "a-" ("none") and the word "melea" ("limbs"), so I thought it fit! :)
I've been playing dress-up for the past 2 days "oh this looks so nice on me... I mean Amelia" lol
The food looks really yummy !

  7. Merry Christmas Tiffany!
Everything looks like you had a wonderful day.
    Fun Christmas presents:)

  8. Joe,

Squash Rolls???? I don't think I've ever had you actually put squash in them? You'll have to get me the recipe. :)

Melissa,, that's funny! I haven't decided what to name her, although I like the name you gave I could call mine "Amelia Bedelia"...hahaha Oh, you play dress up too!?!?!? I have another mannequin that we used for display in our tea room, but nothing that I make fits her, so I put a project that I'm almost done with on her, and was soooo delighted to find that it fit!!!!! :)

I hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas as well! I saw the photos on your blog this morning...everything looked so beautiful! Did you make the dresses y'all were wearing? They were so cute! Hope y'all have a Happy New Year!!! Can't wait to see y'all!

Your pictures are absolutely lovely, Tiffany! Merry Christmas, and i'm sure you are having a wonderful visit with your sister and her husband!

    God Bless,
    Love Tayla

  10. LOL! No, you don't squish them. You put squash in them like pumpkin or acorn squash.

This looks like it's a recipe for it

  11. Tiffany, everything looks like you had a wonderful time.

I have a question for you, as you are a pro at cheesecakes =) How do you get them not to crack? I made our traditional peppermint one this Christmas, and golly, did I have cracks!

  12. Tayla,

Thanks! I can't wait to see photos from your trip to NYC! :)

lol...I wasn't saying to squish them!!!! I was just saying, "Sqaush" rolls!!! I don't think I've ever heard of them. I'll have to try them...thanks for the link.

We had a blast! I love this time of the year! :)

Cracks in cheesecake can mean two least, I think it's only two...the batter was either mixed to long, or it was over baked. I just made one today for church tomorrow, and I've never tried this recipe before, so I was really concerned that it might far I haven't seen any! :)

Actually, I made one cheesecake for Mother's Day, and I swirled some white chocolate into the cake and wrote "Mother" on the top. When I took it out, the whole word was cracked...:( Everybody thought that I had done it on! I made a peppermint cheesecake was a no-bake one...but it needed more candy canes in it. :) Next time...

  13. I thought I already commented.. ugg! Anyway I was saying that Ameila said to tell you that she would be very honored if you named your doll after her ! lol :D

  14. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I'm finally catching up on everyone's lives by blog-hopping... lol ;)

Looks like you all had a beautiful Christmas - what fun to get a dress form! I look forward to seeing what she inspires you to make! ;)

    God bless!
