Christmas Day. Twelve Days of Christmas. Twelfth Night. Hmmmm, Twelfth Night party anybody?

Last year we hosted a very small Twelfth Night party. We had so much fun, we had to share with others this year! So, characters were chosen, costumes were donned, food was made, a King Cake was baked. Finally, after much anticipation and preparation, the night arrived...and what a night it was! Another lovely evening was spent fellowshiping with dear friends over food, games and, of course, dancing. Despite the flooding at the church, a good time was had by one and all, and we are so thankful to all of those who helped make this dream a reality! It was so sad to see the event come to an close. But all things must end in order to have a new beginning. And this year will be full of these. Enjoy the photos!

Mopping up lots of water on a very cold day was not something we had planned on doing...especially when there were decorations to put up and cakes to finish.

In between the last picture and the one above, no pictures were taken. We were rather busy and preoccupied. Now, however, you may take a peek into our delightful evening...

We were very excited to see Burt and Ernie come to the party...complete with the very loved rubber ducky!

Dread Pirate Roberts concentrates...probably making sure people aren't trying to poison him.

Miss Caroline Bingley and Elena de la Vega are dead set on creaming the other players. I think they did too.

Al Capone forced Robin Hood to join his gang and isn't ready to give up on this round just yet.

Better keep an eye on this guy...he's a sneaky one.

What have we here?!?! Miss Mary Poppins and Bert, the chimney sweeper...what a pair!

*Western theme song begins* Trouble has arrived....looks like the Jesse James brothers are in town.

"Haha! What are you talking about? We ain't asking fer much. We just want yer money and horses. That's all..."

Haydee and Mercedes (no, she's not dressed like a car...). Will they lay aside their grief and bitterness and join hands in friendship? Tune in next time to find out.... Okay, enough of the soap opera sap....

Awwww, what two lovely ladies!

Oh dear. Lucy Ricardo heard about the party and no party is complete without her! Ricky stayed home to keep away from trouble. :)

The Princess Buttercup and Dread Pirate Roberts pose for a quick shot.

It's no use running...they'll find you. Frankie Rio joins up with Al Capone. Really, they're nice guys... *cough*

Looks like we've got some Newsies on our hands! Have you got any papers that need to be delivered?

What do you know! They dance too!

Okay, do I need to share the names of these two? I'm sure the theme song in running through your head already.

Miss Sara Crewe, our Little Princess.

That's right...the name's Bond. James Bond.

Aha...a Spanish Romance...Zorro finds the lovely Elena.

Miss Bingley looking so very refined, as usual. We were quite surprised that she even came to our little country dance. ;)

Run for your life!!! The two worst matchmakers are in town! Miss Emma Woodhouse and Mrs. Jennings! Ahhhhh!!!!!

Robin Hood and Maid Marian were very happy that the church was warmer than the forest.

And the dancing begins.

*gasp* Are they sharing secrets? They probably don't even know that this picture was taken. Now to find out what they were discussing...

Look! Dad is dancing too!

The gents are watching something rather amusing...

Okay, now that is pretty funny.

"Let them eat cake."

Sisters, sisters...

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans graced us with their company as well. Have you ever seen such a cute couple?

And the king is found! Zach discovered a coffee bean in his cake. So this means that he gets to plan the party for next year, right?

And here we are: Tired, happy, pooped, and a few other things. :)
For those of you who weren't able to make it, I hope these pictures helped ease the pain...or did they only make it worse?
Sledding pictures up next!

  2. lovely pictures! what a great time! :)
    those costumes are so neat!

  3. Looks wonderful... I love costume parties! I don't know much about the 12 days of Christmas; perhaps I should Google to become enlightened, and host a party next year! :-)

  4. Y'all work SO hard at this!! It's amazing! Tiff, you are definately going to raise the bar at CVP. Roy and Dale deserve "Best of Show".

  5. I am SO jealous Tiff! Looks like you guys had an amazing time. :)

  6. Love all the costumes! How did you decide on all the characters?

  7. I loved how Roy Rogers was popping his chest out all "manly"!! Our Zadok, 2, has just started doing that when he feels like he is doing a "manly thing!" Looks like y'all had so much fun! Thanks for sharing!

  8. How lovely~ ;)
Enjoyed seeing all of the characters.
Awww~ Lucy Ricard was adorable! ;)

    Love~ Jen

  9. oops I meant Ricardo! ;) *wink*

  10. Well, actually... I hate to break it to ya... but actually Elena is my Daughter.... seeing as we decided I was the older Zorro, and Samuel was the younger one.. :-)

But still!!! I had a wonderful time!!! can't wait til next year!!

  11. Kelsey,

Oh, we had fun alright! :D We so enjoy our parties (even if some of us wanted to stay home ;)). *smile* I like that picture too.

    Costumed events are the best!

Oh yes! You should definitely do that! This was our second party, and we're already looking forward to next year and people are already planning characters. :) It's a fun study, so enjoy!

Oh, we have fun while we work! It was so neat to see all the costumes and characters. I'm looking forward to hosting similar events out in Sunny California. Weren't they cute?

We had BLAST! Can you tell? Someday you'll just have to come party with us!

Well, we all thought about costumes we had, or if we had time to make something new, and then build characters around that. We went back and forth on characters for a long time, and Jess didn't even decide on hers until the night before! :)

*laughs* He's a funny little guy. He enjoyed his costume and character. Glad you enjoyed it!

She is cute, isn't she? And a good friend, too!

What?!?! Well, why didn't you say so in the first place?!?! Oh well, you were still very cool. :) Next year will should be more fun and even better!

  12. my 8yo daughter is sitting with me, and when she saw your picture she yelled(in my ear!)MOM! It's the princess from the faire!!!!(I'm assuming she means the Reformation Day Faire) She has a good memory!

    and Princess Abigail

  13. That looked like so much fun. There were so many creative costumes!!

This is the first time I have posted on your blog, but I just wanted to let you know that I always enjoy viewing the pictures of the activities of you with family and friends. Everyone always looks like they are having a good time and happy. :) You are very blessed to have these wonderful moments with the people you love. :)

    ~Mrs. Lady Sofia~

  15. Re: mopping. Which is why one uses the mental capacities the Lord's blessed us with and calls for some box fans. ;) At least for carpets...wouldn't work as well for linoleum.

Sneaky? Come now, what would put such a thought in your mind…

Replace "Mercedes" with "Corvette" and tell me if a certain Cars quote goes through your head.

So that's who Abigail personified for the evening...she did a wonderful job. And that diet worked wonders for Mrs. Jennings! O:-)

Great pic of you two...Robin and his Maid Marian-who-later-turned-gangster-lady. And dancing pictures! My...haven't had that much fun dancing in quite some time...we must do it again soon.

And me lovely sister, the beautiful belle of the evening. That guy beside her is ok…

Roy is the epitome of Rogers-ness. And Dale has my hat!! *grin*

HUZZAH!!! for Zach winning the Kingship!!!

  16. Amanda,

*laughs* Oh, that is sooo cute! Yes, same dress...I didn't have time to make something new, so I had to toss out my original character idea and come up with a new one. :) It's a comfortable dress, though, and I like it. Hope y'all can make it to the faire again! Tell Princess Abigail that this princess says hello. :)

Yes, indeed there were many fantastic outfits!

Thanks for the comment! This blog gives a small glimpse into the great blessings that we have in this life, and it's fun and humbling to see that our lives are used the Lord in so many ways. Please comment again, and welcome!

What?!?! (To reenact the phone conversation we had) Huh?!?! What's that....oh. A box fan. I see.... :) I guess. The mops worked wonders...good work out too!

Sneaky? Gee, I haven't the foggiest idea. ;)

    Oh, don't go there...

*laughs* Gangster lady with a really cheezy name "Maid Marian." What a wonderful evening! It was fun, but I have a few pointers for your...if we dance again... :D

That guy by her side is hilarious! Gave a rose to the hostess, you know....

No, I didn't know she had your I missing something?

Lovely evening, all in all. Can't wait for the next party!

  17. "On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....."

There is a confession I must make, and it breaks my heart to admit my inexperience in this area......that was my very first costume party.

Yes, that is an offense worthy of censure and ridicule! To be so uncultured would have offended the dignities of even the basest noble of the French aristocracy. T'would only serve as further proof of a common birth. Weep for me, my friends.....
