Ahhh, it seems like the 4th of July was just here! It seems as though it was only yesterday that my sister and her family were up here, we were fighting over who was able to hold Joshua, eating watermelon to our hearts content and singing our favorite patriotic anthems into the night, which of course ended with a lovely and private firework display.

It's amazing how quickly time passes. I never understood people when they would talk about how time flew by...now I do. This has been one absolutely amazing and fantastic year. There has been so much I've learned, many uncharted waters I've ventured into, and new and special friendships that have developed.

Our forefathers had glorious plans and visions for this country, and I am indeed proud and yet humbled to be an American. I hope that if I am privileged enough to make a difference in this country, that whatever I do will point people back to the reasons this country was founded and that people can see the work that our Savior has done in me. And now, for the pictures...

Some of the grillers...actually, most of them were chatting and just hanging out with the grillers.

Do you see that? My mom is grilling!!

Sarah says she didn't do it...

Meli and me.

My dahlin' parents.

The Marine Corps will do strange things to you...

Or maybe we're all just odd...
Behold! Our modern art!! You can decide what it is...it wouldn't speak to any of us. :)

What would the 4th of July be without watermelon?!

Mr. Sandford was full of trivia questions.

My dad addressing the audience.

Our special for the evening...which was actually put together and rehearsed in thirty minutes! Impressed? Hopefully, we'll be able to get the video off of our camera so I can get it uploaded here.

Bother. We should have come up with a group name before posting pictures... Suggestions, anybody?

I love fireworks...I mean, I really, really love them... :)

One more picture and in closing, a quote from President Jefferson...

"I have always said and always will say that the studious perusal of the Sacred Volume will make better citizens, better fathers, better husbands… the Bible makes the best people in the world.”

  1. Your modern art is clearly a receiver for alien transmissions. And I think it's working because... Oh wait, never mind, that's just Jeremy in the background. :-)

  2. ahhhh! looks like a really really great time! :)

I think your group name should contain Denim or Jean in it... cause y'all are wearing jeans. Like the Denim Diaz... ok... so now you know I'm a retard. lol!

those fireworks look amazing... I bet even moreso in real life.
thanks for sharing your holiday! I so enjoyed reading about it.

  3. I've always been a fan of adding the word 'mafia' to any group name. I believe The Denim Mafia is taken, but no doubt you could figure something out. The Providence Mafia. I dunno.

Oh, and I'll have you know that I have never been in the Marine Corps and I do Wolverine claws with random poky things all the time.

  4. That was a pretty incredible weekend. I wish it had never ended...

No pictures of my "Ben" impersonation? I'm insulted.

I believe that what Raquel did is known as "Pwning".

Also, some concrete evidence that I am a cool guy! Look at this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-fciiQejVLg/SlE-MpM6z9I/AAAAAAAAFBw/-pJ302yWSE4/s1600-h/_MG_5251.JPG

THREE people looking at me and laughing!!! I wonder what I said...?

Also, the fireworks were WAY cooler in real life.

  6. Raquel,

lol, If Jeremy wasn't back there, I just might agree with you!

    Amanda,

A good time was had by one and all, I think, despite the fact that some of us were feeling ill. *laughing* We're always wearing denim when we get together...how odd. Yes, fireworks are really beautiful, especially the big ones that you can feel. :)

    Gabrielle,

Oooo, "Mafia." I'm sure we could put it in there somehow. :) Get this, I was told I looked like I could be from Northern Italy...Mafia might work. :)

Hmmmm, are you sure you've never been in the USMC? Well, then maybe you're just odd like the rest of us. :)

    Jeremy,

It was a fun weekend and was over way too fast.

Your impersonation must have been so bad because I don't know what you are talking about.

    What did Raquel do?

You keep thinking that, okay? Of course they're better in real life! Things usually are...

    Jen,

We are certainly a group of happy peppy people, that's for sure! Providence parties are some of the best ones around...not that I'm biased or anything. :)
