Our Reformation Day Faire was a wonderful success. We were very grateful the Lord blessed us with fabulous weather - no rain and mostly sunshine! We had visiting families from the area as well as from out of town. The food was delicious (and no, I didn't get photos of food this time...so, no drooling... ;-)) and the fellowship sweet. During our feasting, Elder Price(a.k.a Raphael) and his daughter, Anna, performed the Reformation Polka, which included the choreography from Mary Poppins. :) After some of the play practices that we've had in the past, our "Lady Jane" play turned out better than we were all expecting. :) My dad's Luther presentation was outstanding (and no, I'm not biased at all...;-)), John C. played the town constable so wonderfully, that I don't think anybody else will be able to replace him...so, don't even think about moving out of state, y'all. ;-) Although Tetzel was only able to stick around for the early part of the day(before the constable drove him out of town, that is) he did a fabulous job.

For those of you who were not able to make it, we hope you will keep next year in mind! Here are a few of the 200 photos that I took:

'Twould appear that I am the royal hair dresser...Melinda, don't you look so cute in rollers!! ;-)

While the Constable in Whittenburg (right) takes his job seriously...

...others take great pleasure in it. :)

Three fair maidens.

No, Lady Victoria is not using a CD to spin wool...it's just a figment of your imagination...

Even the talented Raphael graced us with his presence.

His subject, Mona Gabrielle sits ever so patiently. ;-)

A sneak peak...

Prince John plays a game of checkers with his side-kick......Sir Guy of Gisbourne. Who knows what these two had up their sleeves.

Robin Hood, keen as ever, is on the watch.

Queen Mary

Our Family

The Lady Rebecca tries her hand a game of checkers too.

*gasp* Is that King Richard????

Katherine Von Bora wrapped up due to the nippy weather.

L-R: Will Scarlet, Prince John, Sir Guy of Gisbourne (yeah, I think the rest of the gang captured those two villains... ;-)), Little John, Robin Hood and Ivanhoe...looks like he joined the Merry Men too. :)

Robin Hood(right) and Little John(left)
Walkin' through the forest
Laughin' back and forth
At what the other'ne has to say
Reminiscin', This-'n'-thattin'
Havin' such a good time
Oo-de-lally, Oo-de-lally
Golly, what a day

Sir Guy of Gisbourne, planning his escape, I'm sure... ;-)

If he could only get past Eleanor of Aquitaine...

"Just before the battle, Mother, I was thinking most you...
... While upon the fields we're watching, with the enemy in view..."

I'm just glad that I was on the outskirts of the battle. :)

I'm not really sure what she was doing, but she looked cute doing it. :)

Anne of Cleaves, Lady Jane Grey and Bloody Mary...hmmmm....I wonder what Mary is plotting... ;-)

Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I...

Yeah, so I was cold...what's new? ;-)

It looks as if y'all had a wonderful time! Your costumes are gorgeous. Could you post more pictures of Melissa's dress? I'd love to get a closer look at it! Did you make it?

  6. Ella,

Thanks. It's always very hard to get our family together at one place looking great. :)

    Sierra,

Yeah, it's been a crazy week. :) BTW, the pic on Josiah's blog is similar to the one on mine...check out the facial expressions...close, but not the same. ;-)

    King Boffer,

Are you who I think you are? I have more photos where those came from, they were just my favorite. :)

    Emil,

We couldn't think of another Robin Hood name for you, unless you wanted to be Much the Miller's son. But you looked more like an Ivanhoe than Much, personally...:)

    Tiffany,

We had a blast, as usual. :) I'll see if I have some other ones from the party. But my sewing site is almost done, so I'll have her posing in it soon. :)

  8. [no comment on the Little John naming]

And I didn't think it possible that the McDonald's would associate themselves with French monarchs... ;)

The Reformation Day Faire looks splendid! What a great idea!

I'm so glad to find your family's blogs. I love visiting the online journals of other like-minded people. I've read some of the book, "Raising Maidens Of Virtue" and enjoy it very much.

I see that you were in Alabama recently! I live in Alabama, and have friends that met Jennie Chancey (the Lagarde family).

Anyway...nice to meet you - feel free to stop by my blog sometime!

I like your "Simply Tiffany" username. I go by "Sincerely Amanda" on the blogosphere a lot. :-)

    MAY GOD BLESS,

    ~Amanda~

  11. *gasps* Tiffany! WOW! I knew that if the McDonalds were putting something on, it would be spectacular, but, oh dear, somebody has got to move! lol!
You all look amazing, No wonder you were so busy working on costumes. How many characters did you outfit???
    Love you!

  13. Commenting at last... :)

Your Faire looks like it was a blast - thanks for putting up all the lovely pictures! Your dresses are some much-needed inspiration to my sewing soul. ;)

Wish I could see your "Lady Jane" play. She's always been one of my favorite historical figures (I went through a stage of fascination with all the female royalty of old Europe while in my early teens :).

    God bless your weekend!

    In Him,
    Amanda (Flynn)

  15. Elissa,

Ooooo, I hope y'all can come next year! Scottish Reformation next time. :)

    Ashton,

lol, it just fit soooo perfectly...I couldn't resist! :) We couldn't think of another Robin Hood name for Sierra that would be common to other people...so, we just gave her another Ivanhoe name. She's an exception...:)

    Amanda R.,

It is a small world, isn't it? :) We love to find any excuse to visit the Chancey's...how far do you live from them? Maybe next time we visit we can get together for lunch or something?

    Cassie,

lol, we couldn't have put this party together by ourselves...it wouldn't have been possible without the help our church. Yeah, and y'all really should think about moving...or just visiting...with the Bittner's already moving, I'm not sure the church up there is ready for another family(or two;-)) to move... :)

I made the costumes for everybody in my family, one for Tetzel, one for a friend and I helped another friend with hers. 'Twas too much fun! Now we're planning our Christmas gowns...;-)

    Amanda,

It was loads of fun...or buckets, depending on how you look at things... ;-) Well, I'm glad the pictures of our dresses were in inspiration. I wish I had better pics of us in them...it looks like we'll have to put them on and get some for my sewing site...bummer. ;-) lol

After we had started our play, we found an antique copy of a play about her published in the 1700's. So, when we do the English Reformation, we just might have to do another Lady Jane play... ;-)

(No groans for those of you at church...this one is really poetic...:))

    Tayla,

A comment!!! Yeah!!! Thanks, I'm rather partial to them myself. :) I'm glad you enjoyed them. You'll have to come next year...we'll fix you up with a gown and ever-thin'! (as Shirley Temple used to say...;-)) Love ya!

  16. Ah, I was referring to Melissa's name... :) After discussing Scots/French with her previously, I didn't think she would allow herself to be named Elizabeth I. ;)

Hey Tiff, Guess what?!? My family actually posted on our blog! Well, actually, since Josiah has his own blog, my parents asked if I wanted to take over, so I did, and since I DID NOT like the template they had, I fixed it up the best I could...Go there and tell me what ya think! :) Love ya, Sierra

    Hey!
Looks like y'all had a ton of fun. :-) Wish we could have been there.
Amy and I finished our skirts... mine got done at 10:30 on Saturday night. (Our sewing machines quit, so my skirt is still waiting to be hemmed.)
I'm not sure if you're interested, but I posted pictures of Amy and I dressed up on my blog. www.homeschoolblogger.com/Liveforeternity
You have to scroll down to a post with a ton of pictures to find it. :-)
Maybe if we lived out there Amy and I wouldn't have gotten so many strange looks when we walked in. ;-)
    Have a good night!
    Joy
